Position Overview.

The Pike School seeks a strategic and collaborative Chief Financial and Operating Officer (CFOO) to serve as a key member of the senior leadership team and a trusted partner to the Head of School and Board of Trustees. The CFOO oversees all non-academic operations, including finance, facilities, human resources, technology, and risk management. With an approximately $18 million operating budget and $14 million endowment, the CFOO will play a central role in ensuring financial sustainability, operational excellence, and alignment with the school’s mission and strategic priorities. This is an opportunity to help guide the school during an important institutional moment as it approaches its centennial and considers future planning initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead all financial operations including budgeting, forecasting, audit, and reporting
• Develop and manage long range financial models and strategic plans
• Oversee facilities, human resources, technology, and risk management functions
• Partner with the Head of School and Board committees on financial and operational strategy
• Ensure efficient and effective operational systems aligned with school priorities
• Supervise and support administrative leaders across departments
• Communicate financial and operational information clearly to stakeholders
• Support institutional planning including campus and strategic initiatives

Ideal Candidate Profile

They are a strong analytical thinker who can translate complex financial information into clear, actionable guidance. The successful candidate will demonstrate integrity, sound judgment, and a collaborative leadership style, with the ability to build trust across a wide range of stakeholders.

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business, or related field required (MBA or CPA preferred)
• Significant senior level experience in financial and operational leadership
• Experience in independent schools or nonprofit organizations preferred
• Strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, and long range planning
• Excellent communication and relationship building skills
• Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands on leadership
