Position Overview
The Director of Enrollment Management serves as the school’s chief strategist for enrollment health, analyzing market trends, forecasting enrollment, and shaping financial aid strategies with the Head of School and CFO. The Director designs and oversees a comprehensive enrollment program while remaining a visible, approachable presence in the school community. Working closely with the Director of Advancement and Division Directors, the Director leads coordinated retention efforts and partners with the Advancement team to develop marketing strategies that engage prospective families. This position would be either a permanent, or possibly an interim, position beginning immediately with some flexibility on start date.
Key Responsibilities
Recruitment & Admissions
Develop and execute a strategic enrollment plan to attract mission-appropriate families.
Oversee and manage all stages of the admissions process, from inquiry through enrollment.
Build strong relationships with prospective families, serving as a welcoming ambassador of the school.
Organize and lead admissions events, such as open houses, tours, and yield activities.
Collaborate with faculty, staff, and current families to enhance recruitment efforts.
Develop and cultivate relationships with feeder schools and relevant organizations to attract targeted applicants.
Use market trends and other relevant data to inform marketing strategies and forecast enrollment.
Consistently present marketing and admissions plans, forecasts, and other relevant data to school leadership and the Board of Trustees.
Financial Aid
Administer the school’s financial aid program with fairness, confidentiality, and integrity.
Ensure that financial aid practices align with the school’s mission and strategic goals.
Manage the financial aid budget strategically to balance mission accessibility and net tuition revenue goals.
Provide clear and timely communication to families about financial aid policies and decisions.
Re-enrollment & Retention
Lead efforts to ensure a strong re-enrollment rate and high student retention.
Collaborate with the Director of Advancement and the Division Directors to create and execute a comprehensive retention plan.
Partner with Division Directors and faculty to support student success and develop systems to measure parent satisfaction and predict retention risk.
Execute a clear and thorough re-enrollment process.
Marketing & Communications
Collaborate with the Advancement team to ensure admissions messaging and campaigns align with the school’s brand and strategic goals.
Provide strategic input on messaging, digital presence, and outreach to prospective families.
Leadership & Management
Supervise and support the Enrollment Management Associate to ensure smooth and efficient daily operations.
Maintain accurate enrollment data and provide regular reports to the Head of School and Board of Trustees.
Leverage enrollment data and market research to track conversion rates, retention risks, and competitor positioning, and to inform strategic decisions on tuition, financial aid, and program development.
Effectively manage a budget based on the school’s goals.
Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in admissions, enrollment management, or a related field, preferably in an independent school setting.
Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
Ability to work collaboratively across school departments and with diverse constituencies.
Proficiency in enrollment management software, data analysis, and reporting.
Proven ability to manage and analyze data to drive decision-making.
A visible, enthusiastic presence in the school community, with a commitment to the school’s mission and values.
Flexibility and willingness to work extended hours in the admissions cycle and to meet administrative needs.
A commitment to confidentiality and good judgment on sensitive matters.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary range: $110,000 - 140,000
